Rajendra University
Rajendra University , Balangir functioning from 1944 as the premier University of Western Odisha has, over the years, grown to be a renowned University of Higher Education with thirteen Post-Graduate Departments in Arts, Science and Commerce, including M.Phil. courses in seven of them. The University has been catering to the ever-increasing needs and aspirations of a huge population of the state spread across six to eight of its largely backward districts.
As the University stands at the cusp of a historic juncture of its journey by marking seventy-five years of its glorious existence as a public University, we are proud to host our renovated and dynamic website in keeping with the needs of the New Age. Rajendra University has been started in 1944 by Rajendra Narayan Singhdeo.
Maharaja Sir Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo (31 March 1912 – 23 February 1975) was an Indian politician and the last ruler of the princely state of Patna in Odisha before Indian independence in 1947. He was the President of the Ganatantra Parishad political party from 1950 to 1962 and the President of the Odisha state unit of the Swatantra Party after its merger with the Ganatantra Parishad in 1962. He was the Chief Minister of Odisha from 1967 to 1971.
